In the spring, it is warm during the day and then freezing at night which causes the ice to melt and then refreeze. Because water is a conductor of electricity, the increased moisture present stresses our equipment and can cause outages we wouldn't normally have during other times of the year. Bird and raptor nesting can also be affected by spring conditions. The nests are like a sponge with moisture and they can cause a bump or a fault to occur on our lines that result in an outage for our members.
