Low-Income Assistance

With temperatures that frequently drop below 0° in the winter and rise above 90° in the summer, heating and cooling a home in WREC’s service territory can be a daunting, and expensive, task. Wells Rural Electric Company wants to help any owners who are challenged financially reduce the burden of paying for their power.

Energy Assistance

Nevada – The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) offered by the Nevada Division of Welfare and Support Services is a great program for qualifying individuals to help offset fluctuating power costs.

The program provides a minimum of $180 to low-income families and individuals who meet the criteria, with a household average of about $500. Be aware, however, that approval can take up to six months for first-time applicants, so it is best to apply before temperatures start to drop. Visit dwss.nv.gov for more details

Utah – For Utah members, the state heating-assistance program (HEAT) starts processing applications each Nov. 1. Click to apply for assistance in Utah.

If you are unsure where to start or need help filling out the application, stop by your local WREC office and one of our energy advocates will be waiting to help you through the process.

Voucher Program

Whether you need additional assistance, are waiting for your application to process or do not qualify but are experiencing hard times, WREC also supplies $50 vouchers for local community groups to give out based on need. Call WREC’s office if you need help locating one of these groups to approach.

Income-Qualified Rebates

WREC also offers rebate incentives for members who meet income qualification standards. Depending on your level of household income and HVAC system, you could be eligible for incentives that include free installed Ductless Heat Pumps, additional insulation and more.
